My love for graphic design started when my high school art teacher offered me the chance to do an independent study in graphic design in lieu of another traditional art class. I immensely enjoyed my resulting study and was spurred on to continue to learn more.
While in college, I found that I also had a great interest in Communication of all sorts. At the University of West Florida, I entered the Advertising program in the Communication Arts department after learning that it had a graphic design emphasis.
I excelled in my design-centric advertising classes and was encouraged by my professors to pursue graphic design professionally. Meanwhile, I worked for a photographer as his office assistant and photo editor/retoucher and gained valuable experience that I use to this day. After graduation, I took my first job as a Marketing Specialist (and in-house graphic designer) for ActiGraph in Fort Walton Beach, FL.
I met and married my husband, Matthew, in July 2006 and together we moved to the Atlanta, GA area after he separated from the Air Force in 2007. While Matt was busy finishing his Bachelors degree in International Affairs at the University of Georgia, I worked as a Graphic Designer/Art Director for Walton Media (now Burman Printing) and had the opportunity to greatly expand my design capability.
In July of 2011, we picked up everything and moved to Lexington, KY after Matt was accepted into the Patterson School of Diplomacy and International Commerce Masters program at the University of Kentucky. While in Lexington, I enjoyed working as a graphic designer for IMG College-Publications. My husband and I now reside in Washington, DC where he is continuing his career.
While we do not have any children, we have 2 dogs whom we love dearly. Guinness (left) is a Bloodhound/Golden Retriever mix and Stubbs (right) is a Tibetan Mastiff/Basset Hound mix. They are so much fun to hang out with and are very much "brothers" to each other. We tend to be homebodies, but also enjoy spending time with friends and volunteering with our church. In my spare time, I like to cook, sew and do other Pinterest-type crafts. Please feel free to visit my LinkedIn, Facebook and Pinterest pages to learn more about who I am. I look forward to getting to know you as well!
